SSD Fun

Right now, SSD is having a fun little "Sale" or treasure hunt. If you go to their community page and click on one of the Designers or Sugar Babe's special blinkie in their signature, you'll find either a sale code, or a goodie. Here's the blinkie you're looking for:There are 2 goodies hidden in 2 staffers signatures per day, but they're always changing, so you have to find them each day. Today's "try again" sale code is good, so head on over there and start clicking on the cute Sweet Shoppe blinkie in the staff's siggies! If you don't find today's goodie, you'll find a great sale code that you can use tomorrow! Happy clicking!! :)

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for my scrapping, and Adobe just came out with a newer version of it. It's on sale at Costco right now for only $49.99 instead of $79.99 (until December 7). It's a perfect time to pick it up if you want to start scrapping! :)

Belated "Toot"

I'm about 2 weeks late, but I'm excited, so I still wanted to share. :) My layout of Ethan & his rain boots was on the Sweet Shoppe Blog for Weekly Gallery Standouts. It totally made my morning when I saw! :) You can see the layout here.

SSD Sale

Sweet Shoppe is having a sale! They almost never do (besides the rewards for challenges), so this is exciting. Everything is 25% off until November 7. There's also a "Going, going, gone" sale on select items for 50% off. Some are fairly new releases! Here are a few that I think are great: (All images are clickable)

This is one of my all-time fav kits! I can't believe it's retiring:

FOBTY 10/24

OK, So I'm a bit behind on the FOBTY at SSD, so I just did all of them in one day. :)

What Your Jack-o-Lantern Says

You are a naturally cheerful, happy go lucky person.

You're the type of person to see Halloween through the eyes of a child.

This Halloween, dress up as something cute - like a bunny.

The candy you should give out: candy corn

FOBTY 10/9

Here's my "ice cream test." I don't think I agree that I have a "wild reputation." :)

Your Ice Cream Personality:

You are an incredibly modest person. You don't feel comfortable bragging about yourself... or even receiving complements.

You have a wild reputation, but you're not as wild as you seem. You take risks, but only measured risks.

You are a fairly open minded person with a wide range of tastes. You are quite accepting of unusual ideas and people.

You are a natural multitasker. You feel alive when you're doing more than one thing at a time.

You are a serious and contemplative person. You definitely do your own thing in life.

FOBTY 10/2

For the FOBTY this time, we're supposed to say our favorite fast food place. In Germany, there's only McDonald's & Burger King with drive-ins, but there's also Turkish restaurants with Kebaps and Pizza or Chinese restaurants that you can get take-out. Everything else is sit-down restaurants. So, my choices here are limited. :) But, in Arizona, my fav fast food is Subway. Yum!

Fun new favs

I found a couple new kits that I'm really loving, so I wanted to share. First is a Thanksgiving kit from Libby, Shawna, and Melissa. It's really cute, but the layout I did with it actually isn't even about actual Thanksgiving. I love the colors in it and the elements are really cute. It's a great fall-ish kit. Here's my layout with it:

Next up is a kit by Zoe Pearn. I love her designs, but she mostly does really girly kits. So, when does a boy (or neutral) kit, I always snag it! :) Her newest kit is a winter one, but I did a baby boy layout with it. I just love this kit! It's very soft and has lots of fun things in it. Here's the kit:

And here's the layout I did with it:

This Saturday is "Digital Scrapbooking Day" (Devin laughs about that, a total made up holiday, but I love any excuse for a sale!) and there are rumors about a sale at SSD, which is really rare! It'll be a great time to pick up these kits! ;)

Cori Gammon kits on Sale (today only)

Scrap Artist's Fab Friday sale is today, and two of Cori Gammon's kits are only $1 each! You have to click on the Fab Friday link to get those prices. There's also some cute string! I love Cori's style. That "High Fidelity" kit is screaming Kevin's name. :)

Scrapbook Pictures

Scrapbook Pictures (an online printing service) is having a sale, so I wanted to tell you about it! Their 8x8s are $1.49 instead of $1.99 until Oct. 15. On the SSD forum, lots of people have had great things to say about this company (I've actually not heard of anyone who didn't like them!), so I decided to try them out when they're having a sale.

You really can't beat My Pictales on prices, but a few of my pages weren't great quality. Most were good, but on a few, the photos were really grainy or blurry. So I choose a few of them that I wanted to compare and ordered a few with Scrapbook Pictures. They have a flat rate $2 shipping, and you also don't have to resize your layouts, so that's really easy. I was able to upload and order my prints fairly quickly.

If you log into their website through "two peas in a bucket", you can get a credit of about $3.50. You have to be logged into the 2peas webpage, then you go to their digital page, then scroll all the way down to the bottom where it talks about printing services. That will ensure that you get the credit. You can also just go straight to their website without the credit.

My dad will bring out my order when he comes in 2 weeks, so I'll have to let you know what I think about the quality!

Template Fun

I love scrapping with templates. I don't do it all the time, but I think it's a fun change. It's really amazing all the different pages that can come from the same template! Here are a few of my favorite places to get templates (all free!):

Just Two More Things has great 2-page layouts. I think 2 page templates are really hard to find, not to mention that Jueneta is my friend, which both make this a great place to peruse. Here's a layout (with Kay Miller's Tiki Tiki Tembo kit) I did with one of her templates (surprisingly a 1-pager) :)

Sweet Shoppe has a "Cookie Decorating 101" Challenge on their forum. You can check it out here. You don't have to participate in the challenges, or post your layout, but I always think the templates are super cute. Here's my layout (with Zoe Pearn's Happiness kit) with the most recent one:

Jen Caputo sells her templates at Scrapbook Graphics, but she also has lots for free on her blog. I've used a few of her free templates, but most of my layouts are pretty old, so I'm sure you don't want to see them. ;)

Peppermint Creative now has a forum, which also includes a template challenge. There's a really cute template there right now, which you can get here. If you post your layout there, you can possibly win a PC gift card or some other prizes. Here's my page (from PC's Sk8ter Boy Kit) from this template, which I thought was really fun to work with. Miss Mint also put this page on her blog (along with Ashlie's), which I was excited about!

Templates are really easy to work with. You open it up, then target the layer you want to 'paste' your paper to. Bring your paper onto your template layout, and it should come in right above your targeted layer. Then you can hit Ctrl G (or alt-and hover your mouse between the two layers and click) to "clip" your paper to it. You do that with all your papers and embellishments, then add whatever you want to it! Have fun!

Countdown to Halloween

Since it's almost October, I wanted to share some Halloween kits with you guys! Libby came out with a cute girl halloween kit, but there's a shortage of girls in my family, so I made it work just fine for boys. :)

Libby is giving away a free desktop calendar on her blog with this kit, and she also has a contest there to win one free kit!

Dani also has a really cute Halloween kit, "Happy Haunting:"I really love her style. Here is a page I made with it:

Please disregard all the dates on my scrap pages. You can tell I'm SOOOO behind!! :)

So, now go do the challenges at SSD so you can get 40% off these kits! :)

For those of you who are interested in Jessica Sprague's Scrapbooking classes (I love them!), she's offering her intermediate class starting September 29. I think the registration is only open until Saturday. So, if you want to take it, head on over and register! I have a coupon for 10% off: nwr0908.

New Favs

I wanted to post a few of my recent favorite kits. This first one, "Beep Boop" (by Lauren Grier & Kristin Cronin-Barrow) is one that came out last week and I'm totally loving it. I love the bright colors and the quirky elements (Previews are clickable).

Here are a few pages I made with it:

Here's another kit I'm having fun with: "Rag Tag Cowboy" by Dani Mogstad. I'm really liking her designs. She's got a few other kits that are cute (Deep Blue Sea and Little Buddies)

This is a really fun kit if you have pictures that go with it. Or, if you're like me and you want to stretch it a little, which is what I did on the "Sheriff" page. :)

I'm totally wishing I was a tag-a-long on Ashlie's photoshoot in the country for this kit. :)

Also, Peppermint Creative has an upgraded store! She's had her store down for the last 3 weeks or so, and she just opened it up, now with a forum, upgraded gallery, new products, and a SALE! Everything's 25% off right now. She has some cute new stuff!

FOBTY- 9/10

On the Sweet Shoppe's Blog, there was a link to a Crayola Quiz to see how many names of the colors you know. Well, apparently I flunked out of second grade because I missed 27 out of 64! Yikes!

Monday, September 8, 2008

Finally!

I finally got Zoe's kit that I've been coveting for a month! :) Yeah! Here's the first layout I did with it (It matches my blog background!). I got it with a 40% off coupon for doing the challenges at SSD, so it was a great deal!

Awesome deal for Printing!

Thanks to a blog I love to stalk, I found out about a GREAT deal for printing scrap pages. If you spend at least $10 on prints before September 7, you'll get a coupon code for $100 in free prints (to use before September 31). I didn't really believe it was true, but I ordered prints and got my coupon a few minutes ago. I ordered a few days ago and didn't get the coupon, but I just emailed them my order number and I had it in my inbox 2 minutes later! :) I'm not sure about the quality of them yet because I haven't gotten my pages, but I figured $10 was worth the risk. They have great prices for pages, too. I think their 8x8s are 50 cents and 12x12 are 75 cents. So, we'll see how they turn out! So, Jueneta, I'm sorry I don't have any Shutterfly coupons for you, but hopefully this will be OK for you. :)

From our Blog to Yours--8/29

Here's another post for a SSD Rewards point. I took a little "Spelling test" and apparently I didn't do so well. :)

Your Common Spelling Mistake Score: 65% Correct

Your spelling is decent, but you do make quite a few mistakes.

Let's just say you won't be winning a spelling bee anytime soon!

A Few of My Favorite Things...

I just saw these alphas online and I'm in love with them. I bought them, but I haven't scrapped with them. I just think they are the cutest things ever! :) They'll be great for Halloween.
This is a new kit that just came out this past Saturday and I have already scrapped 3 pages with it! I usually don't scrap again from the same kit, but I just love the colors... I think they're so relaxing. Anyway, it's my current favorite kit right now. :)

This is a kit I've been coveting for a while. I love the colors and the flowers (I can make a boy layout with blue flowered paper, right??). If I get the 40% off coupon this month, I'll definitely be picking up this kit. :)

"From Our Blog to Yours"

I just started participating in the challenges and forum at Sweet Shoppe Designs. They have a Rewards Program thingie that you can accumulate points and earn discounts, which is nice! I was pretty skeptical about doing challenges because I have 7 years worth of pictures that I'm behind on so why would I want to scrap something someone else wants me to do? But, in this past month I've made pages that I wouldn't have thought to otherwise and had a lot of fun trying new things. I've really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it! ANYWAY, I'm trying to get a 40% off coupon, so here's my post from their blog. I took this quiz from their blog (to get a reward point), and I have no idea why I got that answer. :) Oh well, I'm just glad High School is over with. :)

You Were the Arty Kid

Whether you were a drama freak or an emo poet, you definitely were expressive and unique.

You're probably a little less weird these days - but even more talented!

New Creative Team

About a month ago I got on the Creative Team for Libby Weifenbach at Sweet Shoppe Designs. You can see her store here. I really love her designs and have had fun making some pages with her stuff. Here's some recent ones:

She's working on a great kit this week, so I'll post a preview of it this weekend.

For New Scrappers

I wanted to post a few things for people who are just starting scrapping or are just thinking of getting into it.

I have taken a few classes from Jessica Sprague and I just really love her teaching style and the fact that her classes are all videos of her screen with the program you use (either Photoshop CS or Photoshop Elements-- you choose) so it's super easy to follow along. She has 3 levels of classes and it used to be that you had to wait until she was offering the beginning class to take it, which was every 3 months or longer. But, now she's offering the beginning class self-paced. So, you can take the class anytime! It's a great way to learn a lot in a short amount of time. Here it is if you're interested. She also has TONS of free tutorials on her website: www.jessicasprague.com.

There's like a billion scrapbook stores online, but I've listed links to a few of my favorites on my sidebar. A few of them have sale days, so mark your calendars. :) Designer Digitals has two 25 cent items available only on Sunday and Mondays. Little Dreamer Designs has $1 Wednesdays, and Sweet Shoppe releases all their new stuff on Saturdays and all the new releases are 20% off Saturday only.

Saturday, August 23, 2008

My first post!

I wanted to set up a scrap blog so I can post a few layouts and also tell my friends about sales or cute kits that I find. I hope to have my links and everything set up soon, so check back later if it's not done! :)
